Social Media & Community Intern or Volunteer

Are you a social media whizz? Do you enjoy writing daily posts for a global audience? Then this might be the perfect placement for you! We are looking for a student (intern) or a recent graduate, who wants to gain experience as a volunteer. You will be working at a dynamic NGO that makes an impact on the lives of people who had to flee their homes. 

We believe that every human being forced from their home has the right to a dignified reception. We ensure refugee environments are safe, healing, and enabling, using our ‘Camp to CampUs’ approach. With your social media skills, you would be of great value to our missions in Greece, Poland, Lebanon and the Netherlands. 

The Movement 

Movement On The Ground was founded by a group of independent entrepreneurs and creatives who were touched by the European refugee crisis in 2015. Since then, MOTG has evolved into a team that is determined to transform the humanitarian field. Nothing is impossible for us: this is how we act, how we think and how we work. We are always looking into ways to build bridges between all the stakeholders involved. We have a clear vision: to have a positive impact on the lives of people on the move. We developed our own ‘Camp to CampUs’ philosophy and we are ready to spread this philosophy across the globe. 

About the role 

• Within this position, you will create content for our socials, newsletter and website, in collaboration with our colleagues on the ground and our Marketing and Communication Manager. The goal is to increase awareness about our missions and Camp to CampUs approach.
• You will be responsible for managing all our different social media channels and our communities. Moreover, you will be setting up mini/medium fundraising campaigns on all these different channels. 
• You will not only create a buzz with your outstanding social media ideas, but you also know how to measure our social activities. That means that you will make social media analyses for example hashtag analyses, best practices and group segmentation.
• We are looking for a hands-on team player with a lot of energy, creative ideas and excellent writing skills. You will be based at our Amsterdam Office. For interns, this position will be for 2/3 days a week and for volunteers, we can discuss the possibilities. We are a remote-friendly organization, meaning that you can work from home, our office or any other location.

Main responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Creating content to raise awareness on our missions and philosophy;
• Uploading daily posts to different social media platforms;
• Setting up mini/medium fundraising campaigns;
• Create higher engagement, traffic and conversion;
• Carry out social media analyses;
• Support our Marketing and Communication Manager with our strategy and across many other projects.
