2020 'Movement Initiatives' in 2020

Stories

The start of a New Year is a symbolic time for many people. It signifies a fresh start; a time when people can set themselves a new set of goals to accomplish over the coming 12 months, better known as ‘New Year’s Resolutions’.

In 2020, we at Movement On The Ground have also decided to set ourselves a few ‘New Year’s Resolutions’ of our own, however, we’ve decided to refer to them as ‘Movement Initiatives’. Basically, a ‘Movement Initiative’ is some sort of action that either a Movement worker or Movement community member takes in order to better the organisation on a whole.

You’re probably wondering, what kind of action counts as a ‘Movement Initiative’? Well, it can be anything from a team member planting a tree in order to compensate for the emissions from their flight from Amsterdam to Athens to the implementation of a new project on the ground that will help unaccompanied minors. The possibilities are endless!

By the end of the year, our goal is to reach 2020 ‘Movement Initiatives’ – that’s around five actions per day – in order to become a better, more ethical and more sustainable Movement On The Ground. It’s an ambitious goal but we believe we can do it! In order to hold ourselves accountable, we’ve decided to keep track of each action on our website through a ticker system. In the coming weeks, you, our Movers, will be able to check and track our progress, too.

Most ‘Movement Initiatives’ will likely occur internally, however there is always the possibility for you, our Movers, to join in on the fun! If you have any suggestions on what actions we can take to improve as an organisation, or perhaps you have taken an action yourself, send us an email or reach out through our social media channels.

So, here’s to growth and development in 2020 and hitting 2020 'Movement Initiatives'!
