Summer help needed!

What are you doing this summer? Do you want to make real impact in the humanitarian field?

We are looking for long-term volunteers that we can count on to help us run our programs as of June up until August 2020. Corona virus has added an element of unpredictability to our planning and therefore, we want to actively recruit volunteers ahead of time to ensure we have extra hands on the ready if needed.

We are always in need of people with building, electrical, handyman skills, so if this skillset is something you possess please do highlight this in your application!

Please consider the following:

  • We want to highlight that, to date 7th May 2020, the Greek government requires all arrivals on Greek soil to go into quarantine for a period of two weeks. Therefore we ask for a minimum stay of one month, so that the two week quarantine is part of that time frame.
  • Due to the unknown element of corona, and any new legislation in relation to it, we are unable to guarantee a spot on the team until closer to the date of arrival.

What we require from you:

  • A minimum of one month commitment
  • A flexible mindset and time frame of stay
  • Proactive
  • Financially independent

What can you expect from us?

As a volunteer on our team, you will help us in our daily tasks in and around the camps on Lesvos and Samos. You will be a part of a team of passionate and hard owrking people who are dedicating their time to humanising and dignifying the lives of refugees on Lesvos and Samos.

We work in the Olive Groves (area outside of Moria) andKara Tepe on Lesvos and outside of Vathy camp on Samos. As the work load varies per location, it’s best to check-in shortly prior to your departure to get a better overview of where and what you will be doing.

You will have contact with our volunteer coordinator from the acceptance of your application up until your departure. Our volunteer coordinator will be able to provide you with all necessary details in regards to your volunteer trip.

What is our mission?

Movement On The Ground is a foundation that was founded in 2015 in response to the humanitarian crisis affecting innocent men, women and children forced from their homes. Our work consists mainly of; construction work, tent building, food distributions, cleaning wash units, waste management, managing a free clothing shop and other NFI distributions. All our programs are supported by the help of visiting volunteers, such as yourself, alongside camp resident volunteers. We are incredibly proud to play an integral part in providing dignified, sustainable and innovative solutions in and around the camps on Lesvos and Samos.
